FAIRFIELD — The sound of hammering echoes through several streets in the university area of town as one particular neighborhood is completely reshaped.

A few houses on Nutmeg Lane, University Drive and other streets are currently undergoing renovation, being transformed from the modest colonials, ranches, and Capes to homes with larger footprints and visual impact.
