Anne Curtis, 32, of 32 Hoyt St., Darien, was arrested an. 24 on a charge of sixth-degree larceny for the theft of a dress from Double Exposure, 1090 Post Road, police said.
Officers responded to Double Exposure Nov. 15 regarding a larceny. The complainant told police that a male and female came into the store with numerous articles of clothing for consignment, police said. The store declined to accept the clothing due its "suspicious nature." Police said the clothes still had original store tags on them.
The female then started shopping, the complainant told police. While the female, who was identified as Curtis, was shopping, an employee found a price tag for a $54 Aqua brand dress on the ground.
Police said it is believed the tag was removed in order to steal the dress.
An audio announcement was made about the tag, at which point, Curtis quickly exited the store and left in her yellow Ford Mustang, police said.
According to the report, a review of the store surveillance showed Curtis taking six items into the dressing room and only returning five. She did not purchase any clothing, police said. The missing item was the black dress.
Curtis admitted to taking the dress, police said. She told police that she still had the dress and would return it to police headquarters, though she had not at the time of the report.
She was released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 3.
