Over a dozen cars entered overnight in Darien

DARIEN — Over a dozen cars were entered on Herman Avenue and Allen O’Neill Drive during the overnight hours from Feb. 15 to Feb. 16.

The burglaries were discovered Feb. 16 around 7:30 a.m. when an Allen O’Neill Drive resident went into her gray 2014 Toyota Highlander and found someone had gone through its contents. A wallet with an unknown amount of money was taken from the center console, police said.

Police searched the neighborhood and found 10 other cars on the street had been entered. Many of the cars had nothing taken from them, but a $160 set of darts was taken from a white 2015 Kia Optima. Police said all the cars entered had been left unlocked overnight.

Less than a half mile away on Herman Avenue, more burglaries were discovered around 8:15 a.m. when a resident of the street reported their gray 2009 Subaru Legacy and gray 2010 Toyota Highlander were entered. A $20 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card was taken from the Subaru and a pair of prescription sunglasses, a Macy’s credit card and an expired Connecticut driver’s license were taken from the Highlander. Loose change was also taken from both cars.

Two other cars on the street were also entered, but nothing was taken.
