Darien resident detained on active warrants

DARIEN — Officers conducted surveillance on Dec. 19 that led to the arrest of Dritan Hoti, who had three active warrants and an extraditable felony charge out of Suffolk County, New York.

Officers observed Hoti’s residence on Old Kings Highway South and around 9:30 a.m., Hoti and another subject left the house and entered a truck, driving east on Old Kings Highway. The pick-up truck they boarded had a marker plate that belonged to another car.

Police pulled the car over near the intersection of Corbin Drive and Old Kings Highway South and identified the passenger as Dritan Hoti. He was detained at the scene due to his outstanding warrants from the Darien and New Canaan police department. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning.

Hoti told police he had bought the truck in which he was detained and put the license plates from another car he owned onto it. Hoti added that he had not properly registered the truck and when he could not produce proof of insurance, the truck was towed.

Hoti was issued a court-set bond of $500,000 and appeared at Stamford Superior Court Dec. 20.
