NWS: A cool day with temperatures rising mid-week

An easterly flow of air over the chilly waters of the Atlantic Ocean will keep our temperatures below normal on Monday.

Water and air temperatures in the Atlantic are about 10 degrees cooler than Connecticut and Long Island Sound. Northeast and southeast wind will be pushing that cooler air to Connecticut.

Tonight’s temperature is expected to be in the 50s inland, about five degrees below normal. Monday’s high temperature will barely crack 70 degrees.

Normal highs and lows this time of year are in the mid 70s to near 80 and upper 50s to low 60s.

A substantial rebound of temperatures is in store Tuesday with more of a return south, southwest flow developing in the afternoon.

Temperatures will be closer to normal values, but also with increased humidity

Forecast high temperatures on Wednesday are slightly above normal with southerly flow continuing.

The next chance of rain showers increases toward midweek with the approach of a cold front. Thunderstorms will be possible as well on Wednesday.
