Daly Hebert hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to put Darien ahead for good Monday during the Blue Wave's 4-3 home victory over Brien McMahon (2-4, 2-2 FCIAC).
The win bumped Darien's record up to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the FCIAC, after a close loss at Fairfield Warde last week and a road win at Norwich Free Academy Saturday. Junior Pete Archey collected a couple of RBIs on a two-run triple, his second extra-base hit of the day.
Stephen Barston entered in the fifth inning to relieve Wave starter Andrew Nault, who allowed all three of the Senator runs in the top of the fourth. Darien immediately answered McMahon's rally with two runs of its own in the home-half of the inning, before Hebert plated the game-winning run in the next frame. Three innings of scoreless work later, Barston earned his second win of the season.
Bobby Fitzpatrick had opened the scoring in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to put the Blue Wave ahead 1-0.
Darien will next take to the diamond Wednesday at Trumbull for a conference showdown at 4 p.m.
