Darien House Team Level 3, 4 and 5 gymnasts recently competed at the Lakewood//Trumbull YMCA with the goal of qualifying for upcoming YMCA championship meets.
Sofia Fea led the Level 3 squad with an all-around score of 36.60 and earning a 9.0 or above on all four events. Melanie Vernal had the second highest all-around score for the team with a 35.55.
The team's highest vault scores were earned by Fea with a 9.4, followed by Vernal, Iris West and Sofia Imbrogno. Ali Kolman also earned her meet high score on vault.
Annie Bingle tied with Fea for the top team score on bars with a 9.0, followed by West, Vernal and Treasa Brown.
Fea also led the team scoring on beam at 9.1, with Tetyana Banaryk close behind at 9.0 and Vernal, Katelyn Secor and Isabelle Seeman also performing outstanding routines.
In the floor exercise, Fea again led the way, followed by Vernal, Secor, Jane Torterella and Devan Grills.
The Level 4 gymnasts were led by Alexa Carrero with a 34.95 all-around score. Other all-around leaders were Katie Weinberg and Lindsay Wallach.
Carrero also led the vault scoring with a 9.2, followed by Wallach and Weinberg.
Carrero, Weinberg and Lily Fairleigh earned team high scores on bars, while Kate Reeves and Emma Koerner were the leaders on beam.
On floor, Abby Gandini scored just below team leaders Carrero and Weinberg. Lilah Grant and Maggie Russell received their meet high scores on vault, while Emma Williams earned her highest score on beam.
Competing for Darien at Level 5 were Nathalie Bravo and Lydia Groves. Bravo earned a 35.40 all-around, as well as 9.3 on vault and 9.1 on floor.
Groves had a solid meet, highlighted by a 9.05 on floor.
All of the Darien gymnasts competing qualified for the YMCA Southern Leagues and State Championship meets.
