Skateboard taken, man charged

Daniel Scofield, 19, 29 Devil's Garden Road, Norwalk, was arrested April 24 on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.

According to police, the 20-year-old victim said he went into Panera, 1063 Post Road, Darien, at 4 p.m., leaving a borrowed skateboard outside the rear entrance of the store. While inside, the victim said he saw Scofield, with whom he does not get along, the report stated. When the victim left Panera, the long board was gone, police said.

Through Facebook Messenger conversations, Scofield told the victim that if he wanted the board back, he would need to go to the Dunkin Donuts on the Post Road in Darien, according to the report. When the victim arrived at Dunkin Donuts, Scofield was not there, police said. The owner of the board, who lives in Darien, told police he wanted to press charges against Scofield.

When police arrived at his house, Scofield denied taking the board but when confronted with the Facebook messages, he admitted it, the report stated. He then led police to a location a mile from his home to retrieve the long board.

He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court May 5.
