Two Darien police officers were nearly hit by a 26-year-old Stamford resident who was driving drunk Tuesday morning, police said.
Przemyslaw Nagorski, 26, of Avery Street in Stamford, was arrested Tuesday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless operation and disobeying the signal of an officer, police said.
At 11:40 a.m., Darien police were notified that someone was erratically driving a green Nissan pick-up truck, police said. Two officers directing traffic around a construction site on Leroy Avenue near West Avenue saw the truck driving toward them and one signaled for the truck to stop, according to police.
The officer was forced to move out of the way as the truck drove over several traffic cones, police said.
The second officer then attempted to stop Nagorski but was also forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, according to police.
Neither officer was injured.
Officers later located Nagorski in a parking lot in a downtown area, according to police.
Nagorski subsequently failed field sobriety tests.
During Nagorski's processing, police determined that his blood alcohol content was four times over the legal limit, police said.
Nagorski is currently being held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.
