Pianist Joe Holmes, vocalist Nicole Pasternak and bassist Frank Tate will perform an evening of jazz and the Great American Songbook at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road.
Holmes is well known in the area for his swing band and energetic piano playing.
A musician from age 5, Holmes has performed everywhere, from on the radio, to weddings and clubs, to a master class for jazz with Dick Hyman.
Pasternak, who has been described as reminiscent of a young Ella Fitzgerald, is a regular performer at jazz nights locally.
She is an improviser, appreciated for her sense of lyric delivery, phrasing and rhythm.
Tate has played with such known artists as Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson and Lionel Hampton, and is best known for his many years accompanying Bobby Short at the Carlyle Hotel.
