A $100 bill was stolen from a woman's purse, which was left in a Stop and Shop cart June 14, according to police.
The woman reported to police that while she was loading groceries into her car at the Goodwives River Plaza, someone approached her to ask for directions, police said. She told police she was distracted because of the conversation and forgot her purse in the cart, the report stated. She noticed it missing while at her friend's house minutes after leaving the store, police said.
Her bag was at the store's customer service department, but the money, which had been in a white envelope, was missing, police said. However, $130 in cash was still in her wallet, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
