Middlesex yearbook receives highest honor

Middlesex Middle School in Darien has been awarded the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown for its 2013 yearbook, "Facts + Figures."

Forty-one yearbooks received crowns, only 13 of which were gold. Middlesex is the only school in the Northeast to receive the Gold Crown award, according to a release from the school.

The awards convocation took place during the 90th Scholastic Convention March 21 at Columbia University in New York City. Liisa Petersen, Middlesex eighth-grade science teacher and yearbook adviser, accepted the award on behalf of the staff. Dana Siano is the other adviser.

The 2012-13 Middlesex yearbook staff members were:
