It's looking a lot like spring at the DCA

More than 2,000 organically grown perennials will be available during the Darien Community Association's Plant Sale & Tea May 8 and 9.

The sale is run by the DCA Greenhouse Group, which is offering sun- and shade-loving, native, deer-resistant and new plants. A few annuals also will be available. A selection of plants can be viewed by visiting dariendca.org.

Additionally, members of the Greenhouse Group will be on hand to offer advice to shoppers looking for plants to update containers and landscapes or for Mother's Day.

On Thursday, May 8, wine will be available during shopping hours from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, May 9, the hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m. tea will be offered, as well as scones with jam and clotted cream, sandwiches, and homemade cakes and pastries catered by Carolyn's Absolutely Fabulous Events. The last booking for the afternoon tea is 2 p.m. Admission to the tea is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Reservations should be made via the website.

Proceeds from the event the mission of the DCA, 274 Middlesex Road, including scholarships for Darien High School graduates.
