The Darien Library's Friday Night Feature continues Friday, Aug. 22, with "The Lunchbox."
The movie will be shown at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
"The Lunchbox," released in 2013, stars Irrfan Khan, and is presented in Hindu with English subtitles.
A mistaken delivery in Mumbai's famously efficient lunchbox delivery system connects Ila, a neglected housewife, to Saajan, a lonely man on the verge of retirement. Through a series of exchanged notes that they pass back and forth through the lunches, Saajan and Ila find comfort in their unexpected friendship.
On Friday, Aug. 29, at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., "Tim's Vermeer," a documentary also released in 2013.
Tim Jenison, a Texas-based inventor, attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all art: How did Dutch master Johannes Vermeer manage to paint so photo realistically 150 years before the invention of photography? Spanning a decade, Jenison's adventure takes him to Holland, on a pilgrimage to the north coast of Yorkshire to meet artist David Hockney, and eventually even to Buckingham Palace. The epic research project Jenison embarks on is as extraordinary as what he discovers.
