Ten students in Idea, which is Darien's gifted education program, earned perfect scores on the WordMasters Challenge this school year.

WordMasters Challenge is a national thinking skills competition that offers three challenges. The challenge is an exercise in critical thinking that first encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words, considerably harder than grade level, and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships.

In addition, the fifth-grade Idea students placed first in the nation on the second WordMasters challenge. The program also had three grade levels perform in the top 10 of participating schools nationwide: Grade 5 placed third, grade 7 placed eighth and grade 8 placed ninth.
