Darien police officers will host "Tip-A-Cop" to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut Thursday, June 12, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Darien Social, 10 Center St.
During the event, officers will assist restaurant staff in taking orders and serving meals. At the end of the evening, all tips the officers receive will go to Special Olympics Connecticut to support its year-round sports and health and fitness programs for athletes of all abilities.
Tip-A-Cop is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event for Special Olympics Connecticut.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run involves officers from across the state who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds through events.
More than 1,500 officers and athletes, including those from Darien, will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope. The runners will reach Southern Connecticut State University, where they'll be part of the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games Friday to Sunday, June 6 to 8.
