The Darien boys track team captured two relay victories Friday at the Hillhouse Winter Relays.
The 4 x 800 relay team of James Farrington, Arthur Cassidy, Jack Sparkman and Brian Davey placed first in 8:32.08. Davey and Cassidy combined with Robby Arrix and Marshall Huffman to place second in the distance medley relay in 11:04.03.
Meanwhile, Nick Lombardo (first, 6-4), Cameron Smith (3rd, 6-0) and Spencer Nichols (5-2) placed first in the high jump relay with a combined mark of 17-6. Smith and Lombardo combined with Carter Ashcraft and Santosh Krishnan to place fourth in the sprint medley in 4:02.80.
Ashcraft and Krishnan joined Arrix and Farrington to place fifth in the 4 x 400 in 3:53.44. Mike O'Malley was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 39-5.
On Monday, Darien competed in the Jack Long Invitational at Hillhouse High School. Spencer McKeough broke his own school record in the shot put with a mark of 48-5 (previous record, 47-10.5, 2013) en route to winning the shot put. McKeough was also named Field event athlete of the meet.
Darien recorded two more first place finishes, as Huffman won the 1,600 in 4:34.48 while Lombardo captured the triple jump in 42-10. Brian Davey placed second in the 1,000 in 2:37.18 and anchored the sprint medley team that included Lombardo, Smith and Farrington to a second place finish in 3:46.76.
Lombardo was also sixth in the 55 in 6.92, Sparkman was fifth in the 600 in 1:32.88, Ashcraft was eighth in the 600 in 1:34.53 and Arthur Cassidy was eighth in the 1,000 in 2:48.07.
