The First Congregational Church of Darien will open its doors to the 47th annual Darien Antiques Show on Friday, March 7, with a preview party, featuring live jazz, hors d'oeuvres and fine wines.
The party will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door and includes entrance to the show over the weekend.
Proceeds from the party primarily will benefit Liberation Programs in Stamford.
Liberation Programs is a behavioral health organization specializing in treatment for substance abuse, which places Connecticut in the top 10 states in terms of prevalence and costs the state more than $621 million a year in criminal prosecution, emergency room care and efforts to stem the flow of drugs.
Liberation provides services for youth, adults and families that include two residential treatment programs, outpatient and intensive outpatient services, special services for older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS, and extensive education, prevention and wellness efforts in the community. The agency's mission is to empower people and their families to be free of the disease of addiction by providing targeted solutions that restore lives and strengthen the community. More than 2,000 are serviced each year.
Proceeds from the antiques show, which is run by volunteers, helps First Congregational Church to fulfill its outreach mission. This is in keeping with the church's ongoing commitment to support those in need in the surrounding community. Other charitable organizations benefiting form the show include ABC House, Person-to-Person, Open Door Shelter, Elderhouse, New Covenant House, Center for Hope, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Feed My Starving Children, Pilgrim Towers, George Washington Carver Center, STAR, Shelter for the Homeless, Sexual Assault Crisis & Education, Child Guidance Center and YWCA Job Search Support.
Sponsors of show include William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty, Darien Rowayton Bank and Connecticut Cottages & Gardens.
The show will take place Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 for seniors and ad/discount card holders.
