Darien Foundation for Technology & Community contributed $100,000 to A Better Chance's capital campaign.
The donation will assist ABC in making essential improvements to its recently acquired house.
ABC is reaching out to the Darien community for the remaining $160,000 required for the necessary renovation to accommodate up to eight girls, plus the resident directors and their children in the house at 103 Tokeneke Road. It was purchased through the generosity of an "angel donor" and members of the ABC Board of Directors.
ABC's mission is to enrich the lives of academically promising and motivated young women of color from under-served areas through scholarships to Darien High School. One hundred percent of ABC's graduates have gone on to four-year colleges and 95 percent have graduated with degrees from college, according to the organization.
