The annual Holiday Luncheon and Boutique at the Country Club of Darien Dec. 4 raised more than $14,000 to benefit The Advocate, of Stamford's The Giving Fund.
As in the past, the Darien-based Person-to-Person was a benefactor with generous amounts of food and toiletries collected and delivered to its food pantry.
This 13-year tradition was started by the women at the Country Club of Darien in the wake of 9/11. Each year it has continued as a way to support a local charity whose main benefactors are women and children.
This year's event was an early sellout with 320 ladies and 18 vendors. A highlight of the sale is the member's table, selling unique handmade items, baked goods and original crafts produced and donated by members and employees.
Members of this year's committee included Chairman Kathy Lavery, Janis Atha, Carol Crikelair, Gail Jones, Barbara Kelly, Diane Musicaro, Laurie McGrath, Jill Pankosky and Nancy Powell.
