2014-15 town budget sees 6 percent increase

Darien Town Administrator Karl Kilduff proposed a town operating budget of $45,217,268, a nearly 6.5 percent increase, for 2014-15, to the Board of Selectmen Monday.

The proposed budget carries an increase of $2.75 million from the 2013-14 budget of $42,466,624.

Kilduff cut $2.9 million from the budget before presenting it to the selectmen.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Lynne Pierson proposed an $87,652,090 budget, a 5.32 percent increase, for Darien Public Schools.

The proposed municipal budget of $132,869,358 carries a 5.71 percent increase from the current year's.

Budget discussions begin with individual town departments Wednesday, Feb. 5.
